A pet can be a wonderful addition to any household and there are hundreds of animals from which to choose. Some families feel that a new, playful puppy or kitten will be the ideal animal to bring into their home. Others may opt for smaller “pocket pets” such as gerbils, mice or hamsters. Many individuals prefer reptiles as pets and these animals are growing in popularity. Their appeal is likely due to their exotic nature as well as the somewhat low level of maintenance they require.

Why Opt For Reptiles As Pets?

Reptiles are known to be highly affordable and they are easy to maintain as well. Turtles can be purchased for about $10 and you can get your own iguana for as little as $4. These pets also tend to be quite small which means that you do not need a tremendous amount of space in order to keep them. Unlike dogs or cats, these animals do not roam the house a lot, nor do they leave large clumps of fur everywhere. Reptile skin is usually shed all at once and cleaning this up is typically very easy as reptiles tend to stay in their enclosures. Reptiles are exceedingly exotic, which means that you will certainly learn more about caring for this type of animal and maintaining the proper environment for keeping a reptile. In fact, many of the people who purchase reptiles as pets develop an increased appreciation for the natural habitats of animals living in the wild. This is due in large part to the fact that reptiles tend to thrive in environments that are dramatically different from our own.

Responsibilities as a Reptile Owner

Although these types of pets are not as expensive as some other choices, they do require specific habitats and food. Most will need gallon tanks for cages, special lighting for heat as well as specialized food and prey. Being familiar with the type of animal will enable a new pet parent to obtain the proper equipment, shelter and food. Some of these pets will actually require a change in some of these provisions as they can substantially grow in size.

It is also important to know that reptiles are not like most pets you may be used to. They are not affectionate animals, and some animals may even deteriorate with a lot of human contact. It is therefore important to know as much as you can about the reptile you are planning to adopt before actually buying one. Veterinary costs may also be more expensive than the reptile itself, so be prepared to shell out money for immunizations and medications once your pet gets sick. Not a lot of vets specialize on reptiles, so finding a vet who knows how to treat reptile diseases may also be an obstacle.

Veterinary care is also a factor to consider before purchase. Costs associated with snakes, lizards or turtles are a bit more expensive than that of more traditional pets. It may also be a little more difficult to locate a veterinarian who specializes or even has experience with reptiles. It is imperative to find a professional who can successfully treat diseases or ailments in these types of pets.

Reptiles are very exotic and interesting pets. There are many ways in which reptiles as pets can benefits their owners, but their owners must be aware of the special needs that these animals have. While reptiles will not be as costly to purchase and keep as pedigree dogs and cats, they will ultimately require relatively significant investments of both time and money that people will need to provide if they want to be responsible pet owners.

Many people believe that reptiles are the best pets in the world. They have unique appearance and are best suited for people with all kinds of spaces. Reptile are best suited for warmer climates, therefore you should have them delivered during the warm months. Dehydration is a common danger if you ship tem during extreme weather.

Choosing the best wholesale reptiles is very important for getting healthy creatures. You will have the satisfaction of providing good reptiles to your customers. Choose a company that offers various payment options like money orders, credit cards and direct bank transfers etc. One thing you have to keep in mind is that there are no licensing standards for the wholesale companies. So, use the details given on the company websites if you want to ask any questions or get other details. Another way to get information about the company is by searching the Fauna. If there are any negative aspects you will be able to find out very easily.

Once you have located a few wholesale retile companies, go ahead and look over the prices for animals and do some comparison shopping. Choose a company that you feel has the best price. Look at the reptiles that fit your budget as well as those that have an excellent resale value. Cheap varieties are not good because you will not be able to easily find good customers. It’s best to select quality reptiles that are a favorite among people who love reptiles. Once you are ready to sell the animals, make sure your price is competitive when compared to other reptile sellers. This way you will find good customers. When you buy wholesale reptiles, make sure that you meet the minimum order requirements. It is smart to plan your budget well to meet your requirements.

If you like snakes, ball pythons are, in my opinion, the easiest python to care for and handle. If you don’t like snakes, this animal my change your feelings. If you kid wants a snake for a pet, you will want to at least read this article and find some truths about the animal he or she so desires.

The royal python, more well known as the ball python, hails from the rain forests in western Africa. Ball pythons were around in the 70′s but really started to hit the scene in the 90′s and are wildly popular today. Considering there are over 200 “paint jobs” on these reptiles, if you can imagine a color or pattern on a snake, the ball python probably has it. This along with there easy disposition plays a huge part in the snakes popularity.

Ball pythons are a timid snake, and very rarely will they take an aggressive tone. This animal will only grow a maximum of 5 feet in length, though most only reach 3 feet in length, so there size is fairly limited. This makes them a cinch to handle. With that in mind, there is no worry that the snake will somehow escape and be of any harm to other pets. Ball pythons also lack fangs that some of there relatives have, so puncture wounds aren’t an issue in the unlikely event that the snake does bite. My kids help me with the day to day keeping of my snake collection, and none of us have been bitten.

Ball pythons are a cinch to care for. All you need for your ball python is an aquarium, some aspen bedding, an under tank heat pad, and a bowl of water. You will want to give it a safe place in the aquarium to seek refuge as well. That’s it. Ball pythons require one rodent, a mouse or small rat, once a week.

that’s the only upkeep for a ball python. Fresh water is a necessity, other than that, just feeding it most weeks, will keep your python happy. Water is the most important thing, if the ball python doesn’t eat for a few weeks it’s not a problem, as they are built to go long periods without food. They will need to have the cage spot cleaned, which happens about as often as you feed them. Changing the bedding once a month is a good idea, so there is no smell. These guys are way easier to care for than say a turtle, or a lizard. 200 dollars for the setup and snake, plus a nominal 13 bucks a month to feed it, and you just scored like 1000 cool points with your kid.

If you’re looking to find the best deal on a ball python, then visit iballpython.com to find the best advice on ball pythons by Jeremy Bryant.
