Have you ever had a cappuccino? I experienced my first drink during the time I went to Argentina in South America. I travelled in Argentina with some companions for almost a month. Taking trips is what I love and because a chance was presented to me to go on a journey to Argentina, I took it. I like the people there very much, and the entire country also. I and my colleagues stayed in the city as well as on a ranch in the Pampas that belonged to friends. On that ranch, we went horseback riding and gulped down on Yerba Mate tea with the local residents, and it was simply the most magnificent experience in my life. The daily routine that the people there have is unlike ours back at home given that they were night persons. I just fit in since I am a evening person myself. They do not go to bed early. They slept in the wee hours of the morning and so was their visitors and that includes me. It was about 11 a.m. as we woke up. The nice thing however was we did not have to bother preparing our brunch since a fine banquet was always ready for our intake. We would subsequently go horseback riding on the ranch, wandering everywhere and gazing at the breathtaking sceneries. As soon as we are done riding all over the ranch, the time would now be nearly four in the afternoon. We then would rest on the portico while we munched on the newly picked figs from trees that flourished in the vicinity and pulled out a book to read or, went to the others in the area and afterwards, before we went out to the evening meal we ate some small snack. If you arrived at a restaurant in town at nine in the evening, you would be by yourself there – the restaurants did not commence filling up until about eleven in the evening. We ate unsullied Argentine beef and it was extremely delicious and along with some vegetables that looked like it was just picked up from the garden. Needless to say, the most awaited portion of the dinner was dessert. A fresh slice of pear and a cappuccino was what consisted the dessert. If there was no available fresh pear, they served a sweet treat alongside the cappuccino. We remained there so late even when dessert was finished. When we departed from the restaurant, the sun was already approaching the sky. In Argentina, this is the way they relax, that is with sophistication. That Italian based coffee that is made with a combination of espresso, hot milk and foam is what we all know as cappuccino and it was among the little restaurants in Argentina that I had my first taste of it. From that time onwards, I am always looking forward to sipping a cup or two.
