Accident Claims in Car Parks

When it comes to using a car, one of the most frequent activities that you will have to do is park it. If you are travelling to any common area such as a shopping centre, supermarket or even to work, parking your car is one of the most frequent activities that you will have to complete.

In fact when you visit any public area you will likely have to use a car park and there are thousands of these right around the UK. The main problem with car parks is that usually they contain a lot of drivers in one very small, confined area and if the correct precautions aren’t taken in this situation then there is the potential for an accident to happen.

Reducing the chances of any incidents is possible if you take the correct precautions when you enter the car park environment. Travelling in the wrong direction is one of the most common causes of car park accidents and so you need to be aware of other drivers. Many car parks are not clearly signposted, but taking the time to work out which way your car should go can save a lot of problems later on.

Getting into and out of car parking spaces is another area where accidents tend to occur and this is often a problem when drivers do not check to see if other cars are coming. Shopping bags and other items placed on top of the boot can make visibility difficult, especially when it comes to reversing out of a parking space.

A third common cause of accidents is colliding with a parked car, and this frequently happens when a driver misjudges the size of another car or their own car. Trying to get in and out of a tight parking space can hamper this problem if the driver has not correctly checked their space.
